An advanced calibration laboratory has been set up in order to check the performance of the system on a regular basis. It has been our policy to develop a laboratory with the highest possible performance and with special emphasis on accuracy, stability, procedures and traceability.
Our calibration standards are compared with international reference standards according to an established programme. To maintain full traceability each calibration instrument holds a valid calibration certificate.
For pressure, several DWTs are used to get a high accuracy calibration up to 1550 Bar (22,500 PSI)
We use a number of calibration baths enabling us to test calibrate sensors between -70 to +150°C
Protocols
Several communication protocols have been developed to meet various requirements in the industry.
The protocols available are:
RS485
CANBus/CANOpen
MODBUS
Sensors can be delivered with safety level SIL 1-3.
Analogue sensors are compatible with SIIS–1.
CANopen sensors can be delivered SIIS-2 compatible
SIIS – Subsea Instrumentation Interface Standardisation
Electron beam welding
The products manufactured by Expro incorporate the use of the very latest manufacturing techniques and processes. One of the specific areas where we utilise an advanced manufacturing technique is in the welding of our integral subsea products. For this we use an electron beam welding machine.
Clean, reproducible, high integrity weld joints
Low distortion
No oxidisation
Minimal weld bead
Accuracy
Repeatability
Welding of dissimilar metals
Using this welding technique in our manufacturing process has established significant cost reductions due to decreases in time and wastage of material.
Because we only use the electron beam welding machine during the manufacture of some of our product range we are in a position of having an amount of ‘downtime’ for the machine which we currently offer to clients and business partners.
The advantages for our clients is that they are able to utilise this advanced welding technique for small batch production runs and developmental work without going to the extreme costs involved with the purchase of such a welding machine.
To develop this welding service in the near future we are preparing a design document to show clients the advantages and the practicalities of electron beam welding in the design and manufacturing processes.
