Expro Meters’ TPS1000 is the industry’s first clamp-on system designed to provide real-time gas and liquid rates for condensate wells.
Most operators of condensate fields desire a low cost, easy way to monitor produced gas, condensate and water fraction. They know that real-time surveillance of each well’s production rates allows for enhanced reservoir management and production optimisation.
Many operators have thorough knowledge of the liquid/gas ratio (LGR) of the reservoir and of wellbore composition, and understand that the rate of change of the wellbore composition is small over the production life of the well. What they want is a complete, turn-key system that combines direct measurement of flow rate with sophisticated, industry standard pressure volume temperature (PVT) based equations of state in a user friendly, cost effective and convenient package.
Conventional in-line multiphase flow meters are designed for black oil applications and are not particularly suited for gas and gas condensate surveillance. Conventional in-line multiphase meters are expensive and, in brownfield applications, costly facility modifications prohibit their use.
Utilising Expro’s revolutionary clamp-on ActiveSONAR™ meter, the TPS1000 takes multi-phase well flow surveillance to the next level. TPS1000 packages the clamp-on meter together with Expro Meters’ proprietary equation of state-based (EOS) models, flash algorithms and user-input wellbore composition to provide associated condensate and water rates at standard conditions.
How does it work? Expro Meters’ ActiveSONAR clamp-on meter provides a gas rate measurement independent of the associated liquid rates. The TPS1000 system then determines real-time liquid rates using the pre-programmed wellbore composition and EOS model and pressure and temperature inputs.
Industry standard sensors are often already in place, but alternatively, at the customer’s request, can be provided by Expro.
TPS1000 runs Expro’s EOS software with real-time line pressure and temperature to provide a 24×7 output of produced gas rate and inferred condensate and water rates. A user-input wellbore composition, entered into the TPS1000 computer at commissioning of the system together with regularly scheduled PVT updates, provides most operators with a complete three-phase surveillance picture.
TPS1000 liquid rate accuracy is dependent on correct PVT data input to the system. The PVT data should be regularly checked and updated if necessary. The frequency of this update is based on reservoir characteristics and how fast the PVT composition changes over time.
One cost-effective, low impact method for verifying the PVT data on commissioning of the TPS1000 and subsequent updating of compositional information is an Expro MultiTrace® Liquid Tracer-based well test.
Expro is the only company which can offer the fully-integrated package of clamp-on three-phase surveillance together with minimally invasive tracer based calibration in a cost-effective, regularly scheduled program, having already performed more than 500 such tests.
Features and benefits:
Clamp-on, permanently installed, real-time multiphase production surveillance
Very attractive for brownfield applications
No process shutdown, low impact, minimal project engineering, low total investment to get multiphase surveillance
No pressure drop or permanent pressure loss
Large turndown
Windows-based touch screen PC
Standard DCS and SCADA communications (RS-485 MODBUS or 4-20 mA outputs)
When combined with regular PVT updates, provides the most cost-effective method for multiphase production surveillance and a cost-effective alternative to conventional periodic well testing
