Total E&P UK Ltd, the Aberdeen- based subsidiary of the Total Group, has signed a long- term frame agreement with Expro.
The signing of this agreement enhances Expro’s strategy and long term commitment to its Life of Field vision for subsea developments in any water depth down to 10,000ft which will enable us to service all subsea fields in existence today.
This first agreement will allow Expro to work together with its clients to foster Expro’s subsea well intervention capabilities and ensure these meet industry requirements.
The AX-S system has just completed the commissioning of the deployment system in 2450m of water in a trench North of Shetland. Preparation is now under way for the final system commissioning which will take place in a Norwegian test well prior to heading for the first commercial job.

David Shand, AX-S managing director, said: “After such a committed development to the AX-S system, Expro is proud to be in a position to offer this safe and cost effective well intervention Life of Field component. This comes at a time when operators are looking for cost effective solutions to improve their intervention capabilities in deep and conventional waters of offshore subsea fields. We are pleased to work with Total as they are one of the major players in deep offshore developments.”

Leading international oilfield services company Expro has achieved the Shell Goal Zero award for 1,980 days without any recordable incidents as of July 31, 2011 for its Malaysian operations.
The award is given to the contractor at every 180-day cycle when the period is achieved without any recordable incidents.
Although Expro is not the direct contract holder for this project, Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) has recognised the company’s contribution to its Goal Zero campaign.
A plaque in recognition of the achievement was presented by Ian Hammil, Shell drilling engineer to Stephane Chamoin, Expro’s Malaysia & remote business unit manager, who received the esteemed award during the monthly Shell Wells Contractor Safety meeting in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Mr. Chamoin said: “Shell has played an important role towards us achieving this milestone, by keeping safety as their top priority and with added emphasis in pushing contractors for immaculate performance with regards to safety.
“With the recent record of LTI’s (lost time incidents) happening around the industry and the amount of risks that the crews are exposed to on a daily basis, the level of safety that our colleagues work at is commendable.”
Graeme Copland, Expro’s Shell global account manager, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and the recognition is well deserved. Both Shell and Expro are very much aligned in our joint desire to achieve a workplace where there is no harm to people or damage to the environment. This award demonstrates that not only is Goal Zero possible but is actually achievable.
“By continuing to work in accordance with Shell’s Life Saving Rules and our own House Rules, we have raised the bar in working safely.”

Leading international oilfield service company Expro announced today its Latin America team has been awarded a new multi-million dollar wireline contract with Petrobras in Brazil.
As part of the four-year contract, Expro will provide 20 packages of slickline equipment and personnel to operate them. The initial contract term has the potential to significantly increase the number of slickline packages provided. There are options to allow up to four years of contract extensions.
This award will make Expro the largest slickline provider in Brazil.
This contract enhances the specialist well testing, subsea and Drill Stem Testing services the company already delivers to Petrobras and will give a platform for subsequent wireline intervention growth in the region, including the opportunity to introduce cased hole products to Petrobras and elsewhere in the country.
Sergio Zubelli, Expro’s Latin America region director, said: “This contract has elevated Expro’s status and we will be the biggest slickline provider in Brazil. This achievement is due to the hard work of our local teams and the support from Expro’s global wireline intervention product line team. This contract will also allow us further opportunities for our complete portfolio of intervention tools.”
Mark Illingworth, Expro’s wireline intervention director, said: “An award of this magnitude further cements Expro’s reputation as a global market leader in wireline intervention. We are an established provider of wireline services with over 40 years’ experience working for some of the biggest operators in the world.
“These types of awards are only gained through a clear focus on the product line, a clear understanding of what our customer wants, and by utilising the vast experience our people have in wireline intervention operations. We look forward to delivering for Petrobras through this project and beyond.”

Leading international oilfield service company Expro is showcasing its latest technologies to provide the complete package of solutions across the entire well lifecycle at the SPE ATCE2011, October 30 to November 2, Denver, Colorado (booth #2146) – bringing together our state-of-the-art innovations to benefit our customers.

Pushing the boundaries in deepwater developments

Expro’s market-leading deepwater technologies highlight the company’s commitment to innovation in accessing reserves previously regarded as beyond limits. These include Expro’s subsea safety systems, products in the company’s Connectors and Measurements marketing stream and its innovative AX-S subsea intervention system.

AX-S enhances hydrocarbon production through the well life cycle by providing cost-effective, riser-less intervention to deepwater wells in up to 10,000ft of water. The system is part of Expro’s vision to deliver a full range of wireline intervention services in deepwater wells at less than a third of the cost of deploying a rig, and to provide an effective life of field solution. With approximately 5,000 subsea wells globally, and a further 500 subsea wells a year coming onstream, Expro has identified a significant and growing market for the AX-S system. A model of AX-S is on the company’s booth.

Exploration and appraisal well testing

One of the largest well testing companies in the world, Expro offers a full range of solutions across the exploration and appraisal of a well. Its enhanced drill stem testing (DST) capability provides customers with the complete package of technology and specialist data services from reservoir to disposal, including tubing conveyed perforating, data acquisition, surface read-out through cableless telemetry, fluids sampling and analysis, compact well testing solutions and enhanced flow measurement.

Expro’s meters offer round the clock well head surveillance using the company’s non-intrusive clamp on sonar-based metering technology (ActiveSONAR and PassiveSONAR). An ActiveSONAR demo meter is on show, offering real-time information and enabling visitors to see the meter in action.

Wireline intervention

A range of Expro’s cameras, calipers and logging tools is on display, demonstrating Expro’s global wireline intervention capabilities and its ability to offer the complete package, including BOP and riser inspection services.

Expro’s chief executive officer Charles Woodburn said: “The theme of this year’s ATCE is new perspectives and the range of products we are showing enforces our commitment to that idea.

“Expro is a world-class company with a quality brand, employing some of the industry’s brightest people. We are committed to delivering world-class service, products and expertise which assist our customers from Exploration & Appraisal through to Abandonment. Our display at this year’s ATCE will go some way towards demonstrating that we continue to take significant strides in developing and offering the solutions our industry needs through the coming decade and beyond.”

“Hess is a new client for us in Australia. Our technical competence, quality control and maintenance systems as well as our personnel and management were just a few of the many areas examined by the company during audits at our Canning Vale and Darwin facilities.

“We were able to demonstrate to Hess our outstanding record and commitment to excellence in operations and are delighted to have been rewarded for these efforts.”

Expro’s market-leading subsea safety systems provide reliable and efficient in-riser landing strings for well interventions and completions. Expro is already well established in the deepwater regions of the world, including Africa, Gulf of Mexico and Brazil, with its superior technology and expertise in greater demand as development progresses in the world’s deepwater provinces.

Expro’s modular process equipment measures the performance of a well with acute accuracy. Testing involves flowing the well through a temporary completion and production system in order to measure flow parameters, and to gather representative fluid samples for analysis. These measurements are used to determine commercial viability, as well as to plan potential future completion and production facilities.

Leading international oilfield service company Expro will be showcasing a range of its latest technologies, which enable it to offer the complete package of solutions across the entire well lifecycle, at the Offshore Europe conference and exhibition in Aberdeen, September 6 – 8.

Deepwater developments
Expro is investing in new technology to meet customer demand for deepwater reserves.

A range of Expro’s market-leading deepwater technologies will be on show at the event to highlight the company’s commitment to innovation in accessing reserves previously regarded as beyond limits. These technologies include Expro’s subsea safety systems, products in the company’s Connectors and Measurements marketing stream and the groundbreaking AX-S subsea intervention system.

AX-S enhances hydrocarbon production through the well life cycle by providing cost-effective, riser-less intervention to deepwater wells in up to 10,000ft of water. The innovative system is part of Expro’s vision to deliver a full range of wireline intervention services in deepwater wells at less than a third of the cost of deploying a rig. A model of the AX-S system will be available on the company’s stand 2C130.

Expro will be holding a press conference to explore the benefits of the AX-S system and discuss its commercial launch on Wednesday September 7, at 12.15pm, in the Press Room (room 18 / 20) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

Expro’s range of landing string assemblies and subsea control systems minimise risk in subsea completion and intervention operations and achieve secure well status in the event of an emergency.

Also on display will be the latest developments in Expro’s leading Tronic subsea connection system range, all of which are designed to provide reliability and efficiency in deepwater environments.

Expro Connectors & Measurements are launching their enhanced, next generation of DigiTRON connectors and will be introducing DigiTRON+ and DigiTRONe at the show. DigiTRON+ and DigiTRONe are recognised as the most technically advanced and reliable subsea connectors on the market. They are backward compatible and have undergone refined enhancements to ensure they are leaders in market.

A well testing model will be on display on the Expro stand.

Expro’s meters offer round the clock well head surveillance using the company’s non-intrusive clamp on sonar-based metering technology (ActiveSONAR and PassiveSONAR). An ActiveSONAR demo meter will be on show on the Expro stand, offering real-time information, enabling visitors to see the meter in action.

Wireline intervention
A range of Expro’s cameras, calipers and logging tools will also be on display, demonstrating Expro’s global wireline intervention capabilities and its ability to offer the complete package, including BOP and riser inspection services.

Expro’s chief executive officer Charles Woodburn said: “We have a strong affinity with Aberdeen which is why we always particularly look forward to Offshore Europe – and this year is no different.

“Offshore Europe will be especially significant for Expro as we will officially launch the AX-S system. The time and dedication we have invested in delivering such a game changing system as AX-S demonstrates our continued commitment to developing technologies for not only our customers’ needs but the industry’s too.

“Offshore Europe also enables us to highlight many of our other technologies which, in their own way, are providing cost-effective solutions to our clients and empowering them to achieve more.”
