Non-intrusive production testing pilot for new customer successfully completed in Bolivia using sonar metering in wet gas multiphase application
Objectives
  • The client wanted to find an efficient means of testing their wet gas wells on an individual basis, while the wells continued on normal production, avoiding reliance on diverting the wells to a fixed test separator (located 13km away)
Expro Excellence
  • Expro mobilised ActiveSONAR™ measurement technology along with specialist field technicians to test multiple individual wells (2 x 10" wet gas production wells), downstream of the production choke, on a 72-hour rotation
  • Data was collected and reported in real-time to the client on-site using Expro's Total Production Surveillance Software™ (TPS1000)
  • After the pilot was complete, collected data was compared to the reference data provided by the test separator, which was operated simultaneously on the same wells - the sonar data was found to be within 5% of the test separator data across all phases (gas, condensate and water)

Expro carried out a pilot campaign to showcase the capabilities of the sonar flow measurement technology in wet gas multiphase application and demonstrated how this cost effective solution can be used in areas/applications where traditional production testing is not suitable or difficult to achieve.
